About the Work Contrasting Movements was completed in June of 2018 as part of my fellowship at the Norfolk New Music Workshop. Each year, the workshop commissions six composer fellows to write a new work for a small cohort of instrumental fellows. The unusual instrumentation for the 2018 workshop led me to spend most of my compositional process exploring different colors and textures available through instrument combinations.
