I wrote this poem earlier this year in honor of the poet Linda Gregg, who passed away in 2019. I came to love Linda’s poetry just after her death and wrote this, in part, responding to her poem “Too Bright to See,” which greatly influenced a string quartet that I wrote in 2020; this idea of influence and the multiplying nature of art is something I think about a lot.
